Clothing Challenge

Three weeks of university means one thing, work to keep us occupied!

Over the next three weeks I will be recording every outfit I wear through a photograph published here, with a list of where each item is from!

I also have to look into how sustainable fast fashion is, and how much clothing we waste, so my clothing habits will be record too! This will include any new items bought, clothing sold or discarded, and my consumption patterns regarding the clothing I buy!

First image will be up this evening

Taking things Sloe

My final hidden gem at (capsule) Berlin is Sloe, the beautiful Berlin based clothing company.

After only being up and running for a year, Sloe have big things ahead of them. Their AW13 collection consisted of muted greys, blacks and the occasional strong blue and maroon is something of beauty.

In talking to their representative, he explained that the inspiration behind the collection was the city of Berlin itself, a reflection of the buildings, the people and its history, making the collection even more beautiful and delicate.

Their collection, impeccably presented at the show, was equally shown through their look book in the form on four newspapers, and individual leaves of look book.

Loreak Mendian

Once again, another gem found at (capsule) Berlin!

Loreak Mendian surprised me with their vibrant collection of practically fashionable pieces, in beautiful blues, coppers and knits as far as the eye could see.

It was obvious from first glance that this is a brand who likes to have fun, and they are certainly very quirky, for after a chat with their brand representative, I recieved a gorgeous tote bag with their logo on, and a tin of brand personalised sardines!

With the freezing temperatures in the city outside, it was a welcome site to see their cosy knits in beautiful geometric prints.

Richer Poorer

The sock guys at Richer Poorer were a highlight of (capsule) trade show, and not just because of the freebies they gave me!

As I chatted to Joe Tornatzky, I realised that these guys weren't just about socks, they are creating a lifestyle for men and women the world over. Their socks offer a cheeky glimpse into someones life. You can picture serious businessmen in important meetings, discussing finance and law, and between the tops of their shoes and the hem of their trousers, you can catch a glimpse of Richer Poorer socks, you know they have a fun side too :)

Despite their recent women's collection, I am in love with each pattern of the original mens collection. They are the kinds of socks I would steal off my boyfriend and not be afraid to show them off.

The passions that these guys have is incredible. They are going to go so far with both lines, and up and coming projects in the future too.

Mind of Line at Berlin Fashion Week

Trade shows always throw up hidden gems, and Mind of Line are just that.

Born from little things that catch the designers eye during her travels and days out, these elegant silk scarves are delicately printed with these images that have been expanded and changed.

All of the colours used are very muted, with soft shades of greens and pinks, matching the brands soft and charming nature.

The passion behind this brand is truly inspiring, with them showing their entire collection at Show and Order. They really are worth a moment of your time.

Lovely freebies from (capsule)

Every fashion tradeshow has some lovely freebies, from the free cakes sampled yesterday, to printed tote bags to carry heavy trend books, shows have it all.

This morning however, a visit to (capsule) resulted in returning to the hotel armed with free magazines, trend bibles, 3 bars of green and blacks chocolate and a tin of sardines. Not what I was expecting from fashion week, but I'm really looking forward to fashion sardines on toast when I get back home!

Show and Order

First trade show of the week was the stunning Show and Order. Located in a semi converted power station, Show offered a fascinating collection of women's, men's, jewellery, dog and hat designs...little something for everyone!

Immensely enjoyed all of the freebies too, mini cupcakes courtesy of Pastry, lots of cool tote bags and beautiful look books :) there're will be follow up posts on individual brands very soon! Right now it's time for bed!

BFW Day One

Early early start after a full day at work did not go well. Currently on 4 hours sleep and ready to pass out, hence why it is 9pm, I'm in my fleecy pyjamas and ready for bed.

Today, despite two busses and a plane, has been just gorgeous. Berlin in the snow is lovely :) you do however need at least 2 pairs of thermal leggings on to ensure your legs don't drop off.

First afternoon included a walk to the Brandenberg Gate, a Bratwurst sausage, and kangaroo salad for tea :)

Me and Beth stumbled across the lovely Lego giraffe in Potsdamer platz too. A very unfashiony but welcome relax after a night of no sleep. Bring on the shows tomorrow!!

6 days to go

With fashion week looming in 6 days, panic has set in...

The weather in Berlin next week is cold. Very very cold. Highs of -3 degrees on our first proper day there! Thermals, snow boots and MASSIVE fur coats will most definitely be crammed into my suitcase.

In preparation however, I have been downloading apps to ease my week with regards to travel and shops! From this app, one shop has caught my creative eye! Oddly named 'who killed bambi?' It promises to offer one off pieces, on trend garments and unique twists. Definitely one to visit!
